Each chapter in The Ballad of Laurel Springs is inspired by a different Appalachian folk song, and this playlist includes some of my favorite recordings. They span the past century, as well as the genres of bluegrass, blues, country, gospel, rock, and, of course, folk. I've compiled them in the order of the chapters in the book, but don't be confused by the fact that a couple of the songs go by more than one name- a quirk of folk music. I hope you enjoy listening to these songs as much as I do!
